Sep. 27th, 2006 12:20 amToday we got to watch another video and then discuss why it was awful in anthropology. This has happened twice so far, and I hold out hope that it will happen at least once more.
The first video was much more exciting, really. It was all about Mesopotamia, and its major flaws were:
1. Obsessive focus on Biblical archaeology in the region to the exclusion of all else.
2. Egregious use of footage from movies such as The Ten Commandments, which, I feel I must point out, is not even set in Mesopotamia.
Today's video, not so much. It was about Egyptian monuments and how they are falling down and it is ALL YOUR FAULT, YES, YOURS, PERSONALLY, which meant that it was mostly a peculiar little man ranting at the camera, so I got distracted and spent a lot of the time sketching out the plot for a really violently shameful fanfic that I will never, ever actually write because, well, violently shameful. It generated some interesting discussion, though.
