Okay. I have two key questions for all of you, because I am planning my Halloween costume, and I am going to go as A Gothic Novel, and I need help.

1. What, in your opinion, is the perfect example of the gothic novel -- the one title, out of all possible options, that I should write on the big posterboard book cover I'm going to be wearing? I've been debating madly in my head about this, and I just can't make up my mind. I need your input. I know I have some serious English-lit dorks on my friendslist. Help me out, people. (Note: Must be a novel. I thought about "Fall of the House of Usher", but then I would have to tell people that I was A Gothic Short Story, which doesn't sound as dramatic.)

2. ... Can anyone give me makeup tips? Seriously? I do not wear makeup. Even a little. About the extent of my Makeup Routine is, occasionally I put on Dr Pepper-flavored LipSmackers, because it tastes good and has no visible color on my lips. Other than that, my sole makeup experience is stage makeup for the musicals I somehow got involved in this past year, and I'm not really going for the "Clown Hooker" look or the "For Some Reason I Am Playing An Eight-Year-Old Girl" look. I think I'm mostly pretty competent; my real problem area is going to be eye makeup, most notably mascara, which I have never successfully worn, because my eyelashes and eyebrows are blonde and it frightens me to darken them. Please, people. Save me from myself.

Practice! And if you darken eyelashes, do not forget eyebrows!!! NYC has a great cheap mascara in a dark brownish black. Heavy at bottom, light at top; wiggle it through as you're applying and flick at the ends. NYC also makes a brow kit... If you do everything right, you don't need eyeliner. Just run the mascara brush through your lower lashes too.

Somehow I guessed you'd have a suggestion. I haven't read Castle of Otranto. *looks it up*

Me too! I had to learn when I was in La Cage, otherwise someone else would try to do it for me and I got poked in the eyeball a lot.
