It seems that this is a time for things (and people) from the past to haunt me. I don't know. For those of you who haven't already heard about this, I knew Colin (the one Drew's always chattering about; I'm glad he's happy, but I'm afraid he'll get irritating after a while) in junior high.
Ah, I suppose I may as well come clean: I had a crush on him in the seventh grade. Seems odd that he reappears now, and as Drew's boyfriend no less. Clearly oddities are not, in fact, all that uncommon in my life (in which case, can they still be counted as odd?), or I'd feel weirder about this.
Then today, while picking out cards for the birthdays of 2 cousins, 2 uncles, and my grandmother and the anniversary of my aunt and uncle (the scary Christian ones), my mom and I ran into Mr. Fontenot, who was and still is the best elementary-school janitor ever to walk the face of the earth. He knew all the kids, and clearly remembered people - I haven't set foot in that school in 5 years, I'm four inches taller, infinitely more adult-looking, and my hair color has changed rather drastically, and he still recognized me. And even when I was there, I never knew him that well. Ah well. He's a good guy.
Just felt it was the right time to record this stuff. Oh, and one other thing. Last night, at around midnight, I heard music coming from outside, somewhere down the block. At first I thought I was hallucinating bagpipes again (please don't ask), but after a little while I realized it wasn't bagpipes. First I thought it was a trumpet; then, after I realized what it was playing and what it really sounded like, I realized it could have been nothing else but jazz saxophone. And it was playing the theme song of Jeopardy.
Is it my imagination, or have I gone entirely insane?
