Mar. 14th, 2003 10:47 pmMuch to write. I'll try to shorten it. Basically... I'm really going to miss Luan. I've finally actually gotten to know her again, gotten to spend a little bit of time with her, and of course this weekend she leaves for England. (Yeah, I was wrong before, when I thought she had already left. Please disregard that. This time she actually is leaving.) She drove me (and Sparkles) out to the Stephen Hawking talk in the Woodlands tonight. That bit I'll attempt to write about later; at the moment I'm trying to focus on one topic. She drives Steve's old van now, the gigantic blue thing that we used to drive to Colorado Bend in. We would sit on the floor in the back, in the huge gap in between the front and back seats, and listen to the Lord of the Rings audiotape set and, periodically, act out random scenes from it as well. I remember being in that car and rolling the windows down on the highway and sticking our hands out to feel the wind. (If you've never tried that, do it, seriously. It feels very cool. Only try it if you're a passenger, though.) We listened to a lot of music that I hadn't really thought about in a long time and talked about, well, nothing that made a whole lot of sense, really. On the way there, before we picked up Sparkles, we passed by the peace protest at Mecom Fountain and honked and waved at them, and some guy handed us a piece of paper through the window that had a little "War I.Q. Test" printed on it. (I can't describe it other than that, sorry. Too complex. Brain is all shut down for the night.) On the way back, we turned up the stereo as loud as we could and rolled down all the windows and drove around at random making a public menace of ourselves. The last time we did that was in the eighth grade, when we were working at a Girl Scout day camp together, and you know, I believe a lot of the songs were even the same this time around.
I'm really going to miss Luan. I hope she comes back sometime.
