AggieCon, Entry # 1
Mar. 23rd, 2003 08:37 pmI'm back! And exhausted! And bruised! And carrying a backpack full of newly purchased crap! Yeah, I bought a lot of buttons, including 3 to be gifts to others. And a book. Pat Elrod (its author) went ahead and signed it for me, since she was standing right there when I bought it. Cons are just plain fucking cool.
Oh, also, I bought 2 items at the artshow. One was a "magic wand." See, my uncle made these things, about 8 of them, out of different types of wood - he and my aunt do woodturning, it's one of their things they have time to do because instead of kids they have very mellow cats - and sold them as magic wands. I bought one because it had a truly perfect texture. I plan to use it as a Smiting Stick.
Also... I got some writing done. And this morning I went to a panel, was the first to arrive, and got to talking with one of the author-panelists. He asked if I wrote. I said yes. Held up the notebook. See? This is my novel. A bit of it anyway. He thought that was fairly nifty. More people showed up and panel began in earnest. I left to return to Houston. He handed me his email address and told me to email him, tell him something about my writing, and he'd give me some tips to get it published. TO GET PUBLISHED. An actual writer wants to help me get published. Holy Jesus monkeys.
Yeah, that's all for now. More later, when everything writing-related is calmed down slightly. But holy ferrets of God. Actual authors taking an interest in my work. Ferrets.
