Okay, so, is this a paper about Heart of Darkness?

Thesis:

As Marlow makes the physical journey from Europe to the depths of the African jungle, he also makes the psychological journey from reality to the same madness as Kurtz.

Subtopics:

1. Conrad’s use of vocabulary, details, and setting to establish a detachment from reality.

2. Kurtz's madness itself, and Marlow’s connection to Kurtz.

3. The permanent changes the journey makes in Marlow, except that this subtopic sucks and I hate it, but I can't think of anything better. Can anyone else? Please?

Shiny new subtopic: the way Conrad forces the reader to identify with Marlow by keeping us in as confused and surreal a state as he is.

Also, I am now running a small country. It is a very, very fun toy. And, apparently, it has forest-dwelling octopi. (From my computer-generated frontpage: "Folberthia's national animal is the octopus, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.")

Also also, I have string cheese. It is both tasty and comforting. Mmm. Yay for string cheese.

Now all I need is textual evidence and a title. Which, boo. Stupid textual evidence. Stupid titles. *sulks*
