why I'm having a good summer
Jun. 10th, 2002 02:18 pmWell... I suppose I don't really have much to say. Went to Nojh's on Friday, which was great as usual. While I was there we played Grave Robbers from Outer Space (great fun, it's a sci-fi/horror B-movie card game... you get character cards, location cards, etc., and then creature cards like "Carnivorous Slugs" that you can use to kill other people's characters so they lose, which we all did to Dorin; I felt rather sorry for him, but we couldn't have him coming in in midgame and winning), then another card game called Chez Dork that I didn't actually pay much attention to because I was mostly chatting with Dorin, who I hadn't seen in forever, then the Lord of the Rings board game. Which we WON! That game is so hard, and yet we won it with all five characters still standing.
My drums are all assembled and set up now. The lowest tom refuses to be tuned the way I want (rarr, damn thing, it's the right pitch but it rings for too long), and the beater on the bass-drum pedal stubbornly remains at an angle I don't like (have to stomp too hard on the pedal to hit the drum), and the crash/ride cymbal, quite frankly, sucks, but they're all right. I'm quite fond of them really. (The cat isn't, but she'll get used to it; she didn't like my harp at first, either.)
I get to go rock climbing this evening, hurrah. Also that means I'll be seeing Becky, Luan, and Blake again. Well, I've seen Luan within the past month or so, but I haven't seen Becky since December, or Blake since probably a year ago. Luckily I'm not sore or anything at the moment, since I do intend to do some fairly serious climbing. Perhaps I'll have good luck and that impossible red bouldering route will still be around; I tried it twenty times last time I was there and all I got in the end was blisters and some damn good practice at foot switches. I think I've worked out in my head how to do at least the first 5 moves or so. I just hope it's still there; if it's not I shall sulk.
I'm off now, fried chicken exists and I am going to go eat some.
