Mar. 5th, 2003 08:56 pmTrying to think of something to post, but, regrettably, cannot. We have standardized testing today and tomorrow. Painfully pointless reading comprehension stories were today.
Ah! Thought of something! I'm probably not doing the IB diploma after all. I simply do not have the time, the patience, or the willingness to sit in Ms. Bell's room for hours on end listening to her talk about Stalin so I can scrape up a full 6 courses to test in. So, I'm almost certainly not going to take the history exam this year (which means no more listening to Ms. Bell talk about Stalin), but I'm probably still going to take the Spanish one. I have recently discovered that I actually like Spanish.
The only explanation I can think of is that I love words. I like writing, I like communicating, and being able to communicate in Spanish gives me extra ways to communicate ideas. I tried to write today about Simon's Rock (in Spanish, which is what makes this relevant), and I discovered that, although my vocabulary is painfully inadequate and I didn't have a dictionary on me, I could write something understandable that expressed what I was trying to say without using the words I wanted to use.
Yeah, I'm proud. Further ramblings tomorrow.
Oh! And I still haven't heard back from Maria! I need to! I am filled with the desperate and burning desire to know whether or not I have a theoretical job for the summer! (A theoretical job that involves wading in water with water moccasins, yes, but one I think I will enjoy.)
Really off now.
