New Year's Resolutions (yes, in August)
Aug. 24th, 2003 09:45 pmI am fucked! I have a Chinese written test on Wednesday. By Wednesday - three days from today - I have to know the names of the 14 strokes and how to write them, the 8 rules of stroke order (check), the 3 rules of writing characters (check), and 16 words - character with correct stroke order, Pinyin pronunciation, and English translation (SO NOT CHECK). Dead dead dead dead dead.
Moving on to a more cheerful topic, I am totally going to be organized and good and wonderful this year. My binders are really neat and tidy and organized and they're going to STAY that way this year, dammit, and I'm going to eat healthy and exercise because none of my pants seem to fit anymore (goddammit, I always trusted my butt and now it's gone and betrayed me), and I'm going to do all my homework even if I don't think it's going to be picked up (even math homework, even if I already know how to do it, even if it's really boring), and I'm going to try to have fun all the same, and I'm going to do lots of harp practice. So, in short, my New (school) Year's Resolutions are:
1. Do all homework by the day it's due. If it won't be picked up, do it by the weekend after it's assigned.
2. Eat healthy food - no sodas, no candy, in general as little dessert-type food as possible. Walk on the treadmill 30 minutes on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and if possible Sundays. Lose somewhere between 15 and 20 pounds, or at least fit into goddamn pants again.
3. Practice harp at least 30 minutes per day, even if it means I have to stay up later than I like. Even if it means I have to give up all hope of getting online that night. Even if there is a fucking nuclear war going on in my front yard. No matter what, 30 minutes per day.
4. Reserve at least 2 hours of doing-jack-shit time every weekend. Try to see or rent movies most weekends. Try to rotate weekends among neglected friends.
5. If at all possible, punch holes in papers and organize binders nightly. If it must be neglected some weeknights, do it at least every weekend.
So far, so good. I will try to keep you all posted on my success rate, which I anticipate will not be good.
