(Well, in the past month or so, anyway.)

Because Dana and I went to see Van Helsing again, and the theater was COMPLETELY EMPTY. So, not only can we sprawl all over the place and take up as much space as we want and put our feet up on the chairs in front of us, we can also yell as many sarcastic remarks as we want at the screen and NO ONE CAN STOP US HAHAHAHA!

Yeah, it was very fun. Anyway, just let me clarify: I adore this movie. I adore all B-movies. They don't make enough of these movies anymore. The only thing about it that I don't like is the REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY EAR-EXPLODINGLY LOUD AND DRAMATIC soundtrack, and the only reason I don't like that is because it's EAR-EXPLODINGLY LOUD. I think WAY TOO DRAMATIC is the perfect sort of music for a movie like this, and there are even parts of it that are in 5/4, which never fails to impress me. And the part that I love best of all about it is that everyone in it is a reputable actor, apparently just taking a break from being reputable.

And I adore it.

But I still yelled sarcastic comments at the screen, because come ON, it's a B-movie and Hugh Jackman doesn't have the same accent for 5 minutes at a stretch. ("Hey, now he's German. And... wait, that sounded American. And what, now all of a sudden we're British?" "Yeah. And he's, um, technically Dutch.") But Dracula is, frankly, all anyone could reasonably ask for, and Kate Beckinsale has quite a lot of gratuitous ass shots ("Why was she facing away from the werewolf in the first place?" "Um, so that we could see her ass?" "Oh, right."), and there are ripoffs of every movie ever made... it's just wonderful.

It is perfect, and I adore it.

Troy, on the other hand, did not totally impress me. You'd think Brad Pitt would have learned how to die convincingly by now.
