Okay, so I'm reading bad X-Men fanfic in an effort to avoid doing my physics homework, and I've just come across what might be the best line of dialogue ever:

"You are more precious to me than salt."

That... you... but... dude, is that seriously the best you can come up with? I am oddly reminded of the time a boy sent me an ancient Egyptian love poem that left me with the unsettling feeling that I had just been compared to livestock. I mean, favorably compared, but still.

... Salt?

It's like that odd story where the daughter of the king was exiled for saying she loved him more then salt! Then she sneaked back into the palace as a cook, made beautiful food, but then one meal she made without salt and it tasted awful. Then she revealed himself and WALLOW! Salt was the bestest substance in the world and to say she loved her father more then salt was truly a great thing.
