1. bad movies:
   I love sci-fi/horror B-movies. If an opportunity to watch one arises, I will drop everything and turn my full attention to, say, Pterodactyl.
2. carlos salzedo:
   Salzedo was the greatest composer for the harp ever, and one of the greatest harpists. He invented the technique that gets the best sound and designed the fabulous art-deco model of harp that I own, which in my opinion is the most attractive harp out there.
3. excellent words:
   ... Sorry, who doesn't like excellent words? There are some words that are just awesome. "Impunity" is one of my favorites. Also "calumny."
4. id monsters:
   The Id Monster is the awesome, awesome monster from Forbidden Planet, possibly my favorite B-movie ever (and allegedly based on The Tempest). There's an alien device that you can use to try to improve your intelligence, but if your mind isn't strong enough to handle it, it'll release your id in the form of a tangible monster. Which wants to eat your head. Well, mostly the heads of people you don't like, actually. It's under your subconscious control, but that... doesn't actually stop it from eating the guy who created it in the end, so actually I'm not totally sure what's up with the "subconscious control" idea.
5. mahler:
   I assume I added him to my interests when I was playing a Mahler symphony with the Houston Youth Symphony. It was pretty awesome, although I must say I've kind of gotten tired of it. Seems to be the only Mahler symphony anyone ever plays.
6. ocd:
   I have OCD. There's... not really a whole lot to explain here. I got along for the ten years post-diagnosis when no shrinks/doctors/anyone would give me any useful information mainly by being interested in what the fuck was going on with me. I knew I was going to be on medication for the rest of my life long before any doctor got up the balls to tell me so.
7. reading:
   I... like books? This "randomly selecting interests" nonsense has a slight flaw in that it periodically selects really obvious interests.
8. scientific theism:
   I have never found it entirely possible to take an atheist position. I even stumble over pure agnosticism. No matter what, I want to believe in something -- but I cannot give up or ignore what little scientific knowledge I have. If the interest-selecting thingy had been a little more clever, it might have selected "agnostic deism," which is what I finally settled on about four years ago as the best term for my beliefs. I can't prove there's a damn thing out there, and I don't even think it's possible to know for sure -- but I'd kind of like to think there is, and that he/she/it/they doesn't get involved, but is interested in us and what we get up to.
   
   ... Which leads to the unsettling feeling that we're a cosmic game of Sims with "free will" switched on, but oh well.
9. the fate of corpses:
   Read Stiff. That's really all I can say on this subject.
10. virology:
    VIRUSES ARE SO AWESOME. I AM A BIG FILOVIRUS NERD. YAY EBOLA.
