Damn, somehow I didn't realize Biggio was so close to 3,000 hits. Now I'm even more sad that I forgot to put him on my top-choices list for my fantasy baseball team and someone else ended up getting him. (The guy who has him actually has a really powerful imaginary team, and is also the first imaginary team my imaginary team will have to face. I'm kind of intimidated. On the other hand, he appears to be even less experienced at bossing around imaginary people fantasy baseball management than I am, which is hopefully a point in my favor. I'd propose a trade, but given that (a) I don't have much to offer in the way of second basemen and (b) the guy who currently has him appears to have made an effort to secure a few Astros players (I did the same, in my case for Oswalt and Berkman) and therefore is probably inclined to hang onto them, I'm not going to bother.

(Semi-relatedly, seriously, my imaginary guys' first game is not for a month plus, and also is imaginary, and I am already stressing out about it. I think this year I'll actually try to get Nathan to advise me, since he is a giant fantasy baseball nerd, although we have, ahem, significant disagreements on the point of team allegiance.

(In other news, LONGEST PARENTHETICAL INTERRUPTION EVER.)

(This is a new parenthesis to ask a side question. Can you do that thing that I just did with parentheses, the way you can with quotes? You know, when a quote goes over more than one paragraph, you don't close the quotes until the very very end, but you start each paragraph with a set of quotes, kind of to emphasize that no, you didn't forget a closing quote mark somewhere, it's a continuation? I choose to believe it works with parentheses too. Which is why I did it. Although, if I'm going to use parentheses the same way as quote marks, I'm going to have to start using double parentheses for nested parentheses ((like this)), like you would with quotes in British style. ((British style selected because I refuse to replace my outer parentheses with double ones, because that would just be silly.)))

On a totally unrelated note, I'm now working for my dad during the week, which is working out pretty well in spite of making me feel vaguely uncomfortable about the whole nepotism/just-a-blatant-excuse-to-continue-financial-support-even-though-I'm-not-in-school issue. I'm also shortly going to be starting the application process to transfer to UH, which hopefully won't be too giant of a pain in the ass. (Hell, at this point I'd do it just for the marginal improvement in my parking situation. I'm actually doing most of the work at my dad's office, which means I have to park in one of two visitor parking garages, which means I'm paying either $6 or $8 ((depending on which garage I choose; the cheaper one has disadvantages, too)) every day to park for a total span of about five hours, which kind of sucks.) I still feel kind of nervous about it -- it feels like a more definitely final statement about my Rice career than withdrawing did, actually saying "I am not coming back, I'm going over here instead" -- but I'm almost a hundred percent sure that it's the right decision.

Also, I promise I will not post about D&D while tipsy anymore.
