Jul. 19th, 2007 11:53 pmTonight, for some reason, I was seized with the urge to read through my Horrible Teenaged Novel, the product of my first National Novel Writing Month, at which time I was 16.
My God, it is bad. It's hopelessly bad. I had fantasies of making it into something publishable; I recognize now that it will never reach that state.
But I still love it. I love it, I think, more than anything else I've ever written. I love it fiercely. It was the first piece of writing I ever cared about, and it was goddamn miraculous.

Hello from the UK
Date: 2007-07-20 11:37 am (UTC)I wasn't born in Houston but lived there most of my life -- when I wasn't in Tulsa (hometown), Southern Illinois, or Manhattan. I was there from 1970 through 1986 (getting my undergrad degree at UH during the early 70s) and then again in 1993 until I moved here to the UK in December 2002. I've since married my English love-of-my-life (the reason I moved over here in the first place), and we live in a small village in the northern part of Oxfordshire. My office -- when I'm not out of the office running training classes -- is in Oxford.
Just thought I'd say hello. Hope things are going well in Houston. The last time John and I were back was in January 2007. I miss my friends there.
Janet
