Hi, internets.

Here's the deal: starting with my next post, anything I post here is also posted at http://elsajeni.insanejournal.com/. I also have posted the few fics I've ever posted on LJ over there.

I don't want to say "I AM LEAVING LJ FOREVERS OMG". It makes me feel a little bit like a crazy person, and anyway, I'm still going to be reading my LJ friendslist, at the very least until I can figure out how to syndicate it over to my InsaneJournal friendslist (there's a way! I have instructions!). But LJ/6A has now:
-- suspended fandom journals without notice
-- claimed they didn't mean to
-- said "Hey, anyone wanna buy a permanent account, we swear we're not banning fandom stuff at all"
-- waited until after the permanent account sale was over to post ridiculously vague new "rules" that could threaten fandom activities and refused to clarify them
-- permanently banned a couple of fandom journals without notice, with no possibility of appeal, for things that weren't even in the vague new "rules"
-- (made a change to the way suspended users show up; this is kind of minor, hence the parentheses, but it makes it harder to see what's going on and bothers me)
-- not responded to any comments or questions
-- and been seen, using the same journals with which they've been interacting with people in an official capacity (you can't even make a sockpuppet, guys?), mocking the users who became (I feel quite reasonably) irate.

Throughout this mess, LJ/6A has given the impression that they have no idea what they're doing in terms of either the law or PR.

If LJ doesn't want fanfic or fanart, or if LJ doesn't want smut of any kind, or whatever, that's their business. But they need to say so. Banning people for breaking the rules after refusing to tell them what the rules are is unacceptable. And that's why I no longer feel comfortable having things I care about posted only on LJ, where they would be gone forever if LJ suddenly decided they didn't want me around.

So. I'm not leaving, but I'm packing my things. How about you guys?

Nah. I don't post fan-fics and they don't seem to care about the communities I use or read. I have heard about the account banning. I thought that was rather weird. But as long as I have friends continuing to post and communicate through LJ, I'll have a reason to have an LJ. Kinda sad to see you go since this seems to be the only way I have of communicating with you anymore.

I'm packing my things - or rather, *planning* on packing my things because I don't have time to actually pack, since I am supposed to be writing fic - but I'm not leaving yet. I bought a permanent account. :(

I didn't realize things had gotten this bad, but you're right. I have had a deadjournal for a while. I wouldn't quit lj because I do still have friends with whom I only communicate through lj. So.... umm.... stuffs about thinking about packing up.

Honestly, I don't make enough use of LJ as it is to feel the need to leave in a huff. However, I did find what They did to mightygodking's journal--that is, delete it after ZOMG HARRY POTTER SPOILERS ZOMG--a bit ... extreme. And if, as you say, this was no isolated incident, then, yeah, a certain website needs to get a ballsier lawyer. Or just balls.

Really? In my edition, the last line is "Of AIDS." Weird.

I would recommend that you check out the most recent post in [livejournal.com profile] lj_biz and the 5,000 comments therein, but the post doesn't actually make anything much clearer and the comments consist largely of people on both sides failing to get the point. I'm pretty confident that I understand it now, though, and I'm happy to tell you anything you want to know about it.

In other news, I'm looking forward to seeing you and to playing in Arkham Adventure!. I may not be around on Friday night, but my Saturday and Sunday are wide open.

P.S. What is with this Ron is Dumbledore business? Have you been reading the Knight To King Theory? I haven't seen that around in years.

See, I feel the exact same way you do about the whole thing. I'm sheeploveyou everywhere except for lj - and yeah, man. It also doesn't help that whenever they're down due to power outages or DDoS attacks, they don't even bother to inform anybody until after the fact (but they can send e-mails out to Vox users, wtf?).

It just sucks that all the alternatives are less-than-solid lj clones.

Right now, my work schedule pretty much looks like "I work for my dad and can get away with taking a day/afternoon/whatever off if I want." So... what's up? When do you leave, and what all do you have scheduled up until then?

(In other news, database IS SO available, dicks. "Comment not posted" my ass.)

Awesome! I want to say that I'm free tomorrow, except I have this vague feeling like I've actually forgotten something really important I was supposed to do. But Friday I am doing nothing for sure, would you be interested in going to see the new Stardust movie?

And I have to go back to Austin on the 18th, I think (aaahhh that is sooner than I thought).

(And, man, it does that to me ALL THE TIME)

YES FOR SERIOUS.

For, like, three weeks now, I've been watching Stardust previews and going "Come here, movie. ... No, CLOSER."

I have to start class on the 20th and I STILL AM NOT ALLOWED TO REGISTER FOR CLASSES OMGWTF UH WHY YOU DO THIS.

MORE CAPSLOCK.

(Also: Now that I have FOUND YOU AGAIN OMG, I am going to learn how to use cruise control and start driving my ass to Austin like once a month. Just to pester you. About bats.)

YAY. I am going to call you Thursday, FYI.

And, dude, they still haven't let you register for classes? I had to register back in April, which took me totally by surprise (although it's not like I had a plan anyway - I just try and find an arrangement of eighteen hours with nothing starting before noon). How do they even make plans this late?

CAPSLOCK MAKES EVERYTHING BETTER. I DO IT ALL THE TIME, SRSLY.

AND YAY WE CAN GO SEE BATS AT THE BRIDGE!

I just checked out showtimes at a couple of theaters -- I would kind of prefer to do earlier in the day because it turns out my friend [livejournal.com profile] thromulator is also coming into town Friday night and I do not wish to deprive either him or you of my awesomeness. (Hi! I'm tipsy. Pls forgive.) I suppose timing and such all depends on where we want to go, which all depends on how much we hate that those hos at the Edwards charge $3 for parking in addition to like TEN DOLLARS for tickets.

Oh my God, my transfer application has been in crisis SINCE THE DAY I FILED IT, IN APRIL. First Rice lost my transcript request; then I filed a second request and they sent the transcript, but UH never received it; eventually I forced them to PHYSICALLY HAND ME the transcript and I PHYSICALLY HANDED IT to the lady at UH; then I heard nothing from UH for a month; then last week I found out that that was because they had me filed as an applicant for the summer term, even though they had SENT ME A LETTER that SAID "MY NAME, FALL '07" ON IT, WHAT THE HELL UH. But now that is ALSO fixed. AND I STILL HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM. IS THIS A CONSPIRACY? IF SO WHY.

Registration at Rice always took me by surprise, too. "What? Tomorrow? Starting at 8 AM? Um... can I borrow that course catalog?"

Don't worry so much about depriving me of awesomeness; I'm not coming into town until around 6:00 pm anyway. Here's a thought, though*: since I'm pretty much gay for Neil Gaiman as it is, and could probably be persuaded to go gay-for-pay for Robert DeNiro as well, might it be possible to see Stardust together-like? It's cool if it's not, lawd knows I can and will see the movie on my own if I have to, but it's a thought.

Also, if you think registering at Rice is rough, try talking to the Tulane Financial Aid department once.

Cheers,
--Me

*Those words look too much the same, don't you think? Like "good" and "food." Those words need to rhyme, says I! And so does Gallagher!

I <3 drunk posting!

And, yeah, early in the day (well, no early so much as 'around noon') works well for me. And as much as I hate Edwards being jerks and charging for parking, the only other theaters I know of are way out in the middle of nowhere. Or we could go with [livejournal.com profile] thromulator once he gets in town.

And, ahh, this makes me very grateful to the UT people. I will have to stop whining about them all the time behind their backs. And figuring out registration the day before is still a lot better than figuring it out the week after.
