The novel's going pretty well. I mean, I'm still behind by 1300 words. But that's all right, I can make it up. Right now I'm just trying to push forward toward the funeral scene. At this rate I'm never going to get there; it's currently December in the novel and no one dies until March.

There's going to be one lovely interesting contrast thing there. The funeral scene will be in early March. Exactly when the azaleas start to bloom.

Another shiny symbolism thing: the city, and indeed the world itself, is somehow very connected to the character who dies. The night with Summer and Mary and the abandoned gas station and the armadillos and the meteor shower that didn't exist has been modified to happen before the death, then will happen after the death as it happened in real life. I'm sure that's symbolic.

I really like the abandoned gas station. I'm going to use it at least once. Same goes for wandering around Westbury Square (am I wrong or is that the name? this question is intended specifically for Summer and she'd better answer it) at 5 in the morning. And, as I said, the azaleas are symbolic.

I should plant some in my yard...
