RRRRRRRRRRRRGH. I've discovered the one major problem with Day of Silence. When people are aggressively stupid about it you can't do the verbal equivalent of smacking them with a stick.

There are people sitting around me in class right now talking about it. Someone asked what club was doing Day of Silence. Actual answer: a LOT of clubs are doing it. Answer he gave: Gay-Straight Alliance. Next thing that happens, people start bitching about how "they" are trying to piggyback "their" cause onto someone else's to give it legitimacy, or something. I'm sorry, it just really bothers me to hear a huge group of people referred to as "they" in that way. Seriously.

People banding together to fight for a common goal, such as equal rights for everyone, is a huge part of history. But of course - gay people are different, right?

Sure you can. You just look at them with slightly pitying eyes, then look away and shake your head distantly. To say that they are so sad/beneath you.

Or look at them knowingly and shake your head firmly, to let them know that they are obviously entirely wrong.

But if gay people got rights then everyone would want them!

You make me laugh a lot. Marry me? (At least for tax purposes?)

At this rate, only if they legalize polygamy. Not that I don't want to, but I think you're at least the fifth valid claimant.
