Apr. 9th, 2003 08:01 amRRRRRRRRRRRRGH. I've discovered the one major problem with Day of Silence. When people are aggressively stupid about it you can't do the verbal equivalent of smacking them with a stick.
There are people sitting around me in class right now talking about it. Someone asked what club was doing Day of Silence. Actual answer: a LOT of clubs are doing it. Answer he gave: Gay-Straight Alliance. Next thing that happens, people start bitching about how "they" are trying to piggyback "their" cause onto someone else's to give it legitimacy, or something. I'm sorry, it just really bothers me to hear a huge group of people referred to as "they" in that way. Seriously.
People banding together to fight for a common goal, such as equal rights for everyone, is a huge part of history. But of course - gay people are different, right?
