Have I mentioned that I am afflicted with the Mystical Music-Loving Computer? It occasionally starts playing CDs all by itself. (Ones that I've left in the computer, I mean. It's not like it reaches over and picks one out from the giant pile that's intended to be on top of the printer but keeps falling off. It just starts running the play-CDs program without any instruction to do so.) Periodically starts doing this when I have the volume turned way up for some reason and am sitting innocently doing homework. Very alarming.

I'm feeling surprisingly good-mood-ish. I think we might actually have a crack at doing well at UIL band today. Yesterday I had my first rehearsal with my Debussy accompanist. (I hate playing with accompanists, because I've been one before and I know their pain. I'm terrified of playing rubato at all or anything because I'm scared of turning into the Evil Bitch Flutist who I once accompanied. Really, would it have killed her to keep a steady tempo for two measures?)

It's been a terribly nice week.

Sadly, no. I'v always said it, 'sme-tar-nar' but really, I don't know! I first learnt to play a (really) simplified version on the piano when I was 9 or something and fell in love with it then :) it's waiting in my playlist right now.

I got a great recording of it entirely by accident. I ordered a CD that had a harp piece I'm learning on it. Track 3, unexpectedly, is Vltava.

My mom pronounces it SMYE-tah-nah, but then, she majored in Russian, which I suspect is influencing her pronounciation.
