Okay, I'm going in backwards chronological order here and starting with The First Day Of School (today, for those who are mildly puzzled). Once again, giving my schedule and my current evaluations of the classes.
1st period - Mandarin Chinese 1, Ms. Huang. Attempted to write the character for the teacher's name, showed it later to a friend who reads Chinese, and was insanely gratified that she told me it looked right and did, indeed, say "huang." (Which, apparently, means "yellow.") Am reduced to the level of an infant. Cannot count to ten without accidentally saying something like "fish" instead of, say, "seven." On the bright side, though, instantly bonded with a girl named Thuy because we were equally clueless and intimidated and vastly outnumbered by people who already spoke Chinese. I think I shall have fun.
2nd period - Spanish 5, Mrs. Garcia again. Nothing thrilling here. All reading literature, all preparing for the AP. Seems boring, but thankfully I managed to surround myself with Susan, Grace, and Laura Nielsen, so things should be all right. Also, this is my 3rd year having Mrs. Garcia, so at least everything will be nicely predictable.
3rd period - Jazz Ensemble, Mr. Allen. Fun! I love my band-geek-ness. I'm really excited to spend time with some of these people and might actually stay in jazz for the spring semester, which I wasn't originally planning to do, in order to spend more time with them and play more good music. Got my first jazz part and decided it didn't look too difficult. Huzzah.
4th period - English, Ms. Fish. All the band geeks are also in this class, for some reason. So far, we have analyzed a poem and I have discovered that Jesse, the boy Morgan was madly in love with all through middle school, is insanely smart and personally involved with literature and actually worth being attracted to.
5th period - Government, Ms. Davis. Fastest-talking teacher ever. She has driven all her students insane already by talking really fast for 20 minutes, outlining all the assignments for the next week and a half, then saying, "Okay, get in groups of around 4 and start on that." Um, start on which? What just happened? What's going on? What? Utter confusion and chaos among myself and my fellow students. She seems sweet, though. She's young and new and enthusiastic. We'll get her down to a sane level before too long, and then she'll be fun.
6th period - Math HL, Mr. Mazzoni. I'm enjoying it already and all we've done is made goofy icebreaker projects and read the first chapter of the book.
And a rather special one: 8th period Mondays and Tuesdays, although I'm not legitimately enrolled in the class (can't be, since I'm no longer an IB candidate), I am attending Theory of Knowledge with Mr. McDonough. (Since I bolded all the other times, courses, and teachers...) Seems like it's going to be fun and good, although sitting in the courtyard through 7th period is annoying. Oh well.
So, overall, it looks like it's going to be a good year. And Dana lent me Coraline, for which I will eternally love her, and Jesus-Stephanie gave me a pen with the evil Siamese cats from Lady and the Tramp on it (you know... "We are Siamese, if you please... we are Siamese, if you don't please"... oh, never mind), and I have 3 classes in a row with Ainsworth and sit near him in all of them, which is fun. And I painted my nails because I was bored and wanted to look pretty. And it should be a good year.
