Well. It's still November. I've done 3 of the 8 pages of my UT scholarship application, due Dec. 1. I've written very rough drafts of one short essay and one long essay for my Rice application, due Dec. 1, as well as deciding what I want to put in the box that says, "Fill this box with something that appeals to you." I have received a pen in the mail from Texas Tech (poor things, they try so hard... it is a nice pen, though).
And I have written about 31,000 words and will hopefully be pushing through another 1,000 tonight in 10-minute sprints. (You think hard about where you want the next page or so to go, you take a deep breath, and then you type as fast as you can for 10 minutes. Depending on your typing speed, you get from 300 to 800. In 10 minutes! I've been getting around 750 pretty consistently. It's amazing.) If I keep this rate up, I'll be caught up by the weekend, which would be really amazing.
Oh, and the topic this week on
hpsquick100 is bellybuttons. Which seems to be some kind of universal squick. Ew... ew.
(Yes, I did write one. No, I'm not telling you what it was about. Yes, it was dirty. Yes, I wish I hadn't ever seen that challenge. Ugh. Bellybuttons. It's not even a pretty word. Not even in other languages. Pupek? I don't think so. Ugh.)
Oh, and my cousin Heather got married, and at the reception her father, Uncle Henry, was walking around with a small radio stuck to his ear, with the explanation that he was trying to pick up the UT game. A few aunts and female cousins were making protests along the lines of, "Henry! It's your daughter's wedding day!" Everyone else was saying, "Hey, Henry, what's the score?" I do, indeed, live in Texas.
